Garden Digest: Dates for your winter diary

  • Clonakilty Flower Club will hold its November night on Monday, November 11, at 8pm, in Clonakilty GAA Complex, Ahamilla, Clonakilty. Demonstrators on the night are club members. The night includes the usual raffle and refreshments. All are welcome
  • Cork Flower Club is holding a gala demonstration, with Cherie Nummy, NIGFAS, showing ‘Oh, What a Pantomime’. It takes place at Douglas GAA Hall, T12 N2TH, on Tuesday, November 12, at 7.30pm. Tickets, €20, available at the door.
  • Kinsale Garden and Flower Club will hold its Christmas demonstration, entitled ‘Sparkle’, with Jasmine O’Gorman, AOIFA, on Thursday, November 14, at 8pm in St Multose Hall.
  • Macroom Flower & Garden Club’s annual charity gala floral demonstration takes place on Thursday, November 14, at 8pm, by Margaret Ahern of AOIFA. Admission, €20.
  • Glengarra Flower & Garden Club hosts its Christmas gala floral demonstration, by Janet Maddock, on Thursday, November 14, at 7.30pm at Burncourt Community Hall, Burncourt, Cahir, Co Tipperary, E21X674. Visitors, €15. Book with Lynn at 086-6086638. Janet will also be doing a workshop on November 14, 1pm-3.30pm; contact Angela, 086-2712981.
  • Anne Hester, of AOIFA, will give a Christmas gala demonstration for the Ladysbridge & District Flower & Garden Club on Monday, November 18, at 8pm at the Garryvoe Hotel. Non-members, €10.
  • Mallow Flower & Garden Club’s Christmas gala demonstration, presented by Mary Keogh, AOIFA, takes place on Tuesday, November 19, 8pm, at Mallow GAA Complex.
  • Conna & District Flower & Garden Club will present its charity Christmas gala, ‘Festive Magic at Christmas Time’, by Eileen O Brien, AOIFA, in Conna Hall on Wednesday, November 20, at 8pm. Admission, €15, includes supper.
  • Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club’s Christmas demonstration, by Malcolm Kitt, takes place in Cobh GAA hall on Wednesday, November 20, at 8pm. Admission, €10.
  • The Cork Alpine Hardy Plant Society hosts a talk by Derry Watkins, of Special Plants (UK), on ‘Summer Flowers, from Seed’ on Thursday, November 28, at Scoil Mhuire Naofa, Station Road, Carrigtwohill, Co Cork. Visitors, €10.
