A plan to build 20 new homes in Tramore, Co Waterford, has been approved.

Kilkenny Investment Property Holding Ltd has been granted permission by An Bord Pleanála, after the matter was appealed.

Waterford City & County Council had granted permission to the developers, but a third-party appeal saw it referred to the board.

The development is located on a 0.73ha site in Newtown, Tramore, and is accessed via the R675 Tramore coast road. It includes 20 independent living units.

A third-party appeal was made by the owners of a property adjoining the southern site boundary.

Among the concerns raised was an issue with the lack of green space in the development, concerns about boundary treatments, and the proximity to a local bus service and local shops and services.

However, An Bord Pleanála has backed the original decision of the local authority and, subject to compliance with a number of conditions, the development is now free to proceed.

Among the conditions are a requirement to strictly comply with restrictions on the occupancy of the independent living units. These restrictions include ensuring the residents are over 65, or have mobility issues, intellectual disabilities, or mental health issues.

Separately, a planning application for 19 new houses in Kilbrittain, Co Cork, has been lodged. Cork County Council has received an application from Peppard Investments Limited for the construction of 19 new houses.

The development would be located along Meadow View Road, and includes improvements to the junction of the R603 and the L6105.

Six visitor car parking spaces, and a new pedestrian access to a local amenity walk and community field are planned too. Traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings are also set to be rolled out if the development is approved.

Also in Cork, planning has been granted for the development of an Italian delicatessen in Youghal.

Luigi Camilleri has been granted permission by Cork County Council for the change of use of a ground floor art gallery. located at 72 North Main Street in Youghal.

That is to facilitate the development of an Italian delicatessen, with all works taking place in the confines of a protected structure.

72 North Main Street is also home to Pizzeria Camilleri, a pizzeria, coffee house, deli, and wine bar, all located next to Youghal's famous clock tower.
