THE possibility of turning two cottages into six apartments in the busy Douglas suburb of Cork city is one of the options put forward by the vendors of neighbouring properties on Tramway Terrace, which are on the market for €600,000.
The two cottages, one derelict, the other in use as an phone repair store, are on a prominent 300 sq m (3,230 sq ft) corner site. The derelict cottage has a small shed to the rear and vehicular access to the side. Both properties have pedestrian access to the front.
Selling the properties/development site is Declan Hickey of Casey & Kingston and he says a feasibility study has shown the site has capacity for three house or six apartments.
Small developers are considered to be the most likely buyers, although it's possible the site could go to someone looking to build their own home in Douglas village.
Mr Hickey said the property "offers a rare development opportunity in an amazing location", with a wealth of retail in the area, good public transport links and schools. It's also within easy reach of Cork city centre.
