Racing 92 director of rugby Stuart Lancaster has hit out strongly at "false" reports linking him with the Munster job, telling French outlet RMC that the rumours are "lies".
“I was disappointed by the lies told about me,” said the former England boss. “One of them started in England about my departure for Munster, which is totally false. I lost all the respect I had for the people on the podcast who said that.”
Lancaster appeared to be referring to the 'The Rugby Pod' show on which former England player Andy Goode suggested Lancaster might soon be heading for Munster.
Lancaster added: "What disappointed me the most was the fact that other people presented information on their websites as true without checking the facts. We live in a world full of false information; it is a responsibility to check it.”
Lancaster was speaking before Sunday's 25-25 draw with Lyon at La Defense Arena. But his future at Racing appears secure, following a statement about the impending departure of club chairman Laurent Travers, set to become director of rugby at Bayonne at the end of the season.
Confirming long-standing speculation about Travers, club owner Jacky Lorenzetti “reiterate[d] his full confidence in Stuart Lancaster and his team to win titles in 2025 and beyond”.
