Brendan Rodgers said Adam Idah was "outstanding" in Celtic's 3-1 victory Scottish Premiership victory over Motherwell on Sunday.

The Cork striker, on loan at Celtic from Norwich, scored twice as his side came from behind to earn a vital win in their title race with Rangers.

Celtic found themselves behind at half-time following a superb goal by Blair Spittal. Rodgers knew a change was required in the Celtic attack and that was Idah replacing Kyogo Furuhashi.

"I was thinking that he could give us a better reference," said Rodgers.

"It was quiet for Kyogo; we lacked movement and that link-up play in the game. He's a player that wants to run into depth but this was a type of game where we were going to force them back and we needed someone to set the game up as well as run in behind. I felt at half-time that we needed both movement and someone who could look after the ball for us. Adam came in and he was outstanding."

Idah was on the pitch for just over five minutes when he headed a remarkable equaliser from Greg Taylor's cross.

"Our first goal, it was an absolutely incredible header from the ball in by Greg," said Rodgers.

"That get allows us to feel a lot better in the game at one each. Then, we started to play and speed up the game."

It was the 94th minute when Idah steered Alistair Johnston's cross to the Motherwell net to put Celtic ahead. Another substitute, Luis Palma, added a third goal to put a gloss on the scoreline for Celtic.

"He's made a huge impact," said Rodgers.

"He's a great guy and he's got a lot of qualities. Hopefully, here, we can see over these remaining months that he can show those. He's certainly done that with four goals in three games."

Sitting on the bench during the first half, Idah "had a feeling" that he was going to score.

"We know ourselves that the performance in the first half wasn't great," said Idah, the Man of the Match.

"We all had belief and we were still confident that we going to get something from the game. You could tell in the second half that once we had that bit of composure and kept the ball a bit better, we dominated.

"It was just that relief when the second goal went in. To do it in front of the Celtic fans was amazing. That's the second time it's happened this season.

"Ever since I've been at this team, it's about that never-give-up attitude and go till the end. The boys did that today and even managed to get three goals.

"We've been doing a lot in training. They need to understand me and I'm understanding them a lot better. You can tell in that games, that link up play between every single one of us has been a lot better.

"I'm loving life in Glasgow. Being here, training every day and playing in the games, is fantastic. My family and friends are buzzing. They're coming to nearly every game.

"I think I've picked up my game a lot, especially in terms of linking up with players. It's the first time where I'm the centrepoint of the team. Nearly everything has to come through me. That's such a big difference for me. For my development, it's huge."

Celtic trail Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers by two points with both teams having played 27 games.
