Former Cork City and Shelbourne striker Saoirse Noonan has joined Celtic on a three-year deal.
The Cork native joins the Scottish giants on a free transfer after leaving English Championship side Durham during the summer.
Noonan had recently been training with City in an effort to remain fit while she considered her options and it is believed the club held talks with her about remaining on Leeside, while a number of other Women's Premier Division sides also chased her signature.
But on Friday the SWPL champions, who face Finnish side KuPS Kuopio in September in the first round of qualifying for the Women's Champions League, announced that they had reached an agreement with the Republic of Ireland international.
And speaking to the club's official website, Noonan admitted she is delighted to join the Hoops.
“It’s a bit surreal for me. I was a Celtic fan growing up and all my family are Celtic fans. I can’t wait to get going," she said.
"I thought I’d never get over here, so I’m delighted to be here now. I grew up playing on the streets and went to Cork City and then to Shelbourne. Then I crossed the water to Durham.
“Now I’ve made the move up here to Scotland to Celtic. Celtic’s a huge club and I’m delighted to be a part of it now.
“It (Champions League) is the highest level you can play at in club football. To wear the Celtic jersey and go out and play at that level is something any young kid aspires to.
"Seeing the girls win the league and going on to play in the Champions League, it’s something I’ve always dreamt of.
“It’s everyone’s dream and it’s something that I can’t wait to do.
"I’m Irish. I play with my heart on my sleeve. I bleed green. I’ll give my all, work as hard as I can and hopefully get plenty of goals.”
