Roy Keane believes England were 'found out' during their heart-breaking loss to Spain in the final of the Euros.
Spain controlled the game for large spells and created far more goal-scoring opportunities during the Sunday's showpiece in Berlin but with 85 minutes on the clock, the two sides were level at 1-1.
But in the 86th minute the Spaniards' quality finally told as Mikel Oyarzabal rolled the ball past Jordan Pickford for what proved to be the winner.
Speaking in the ITV Studio alongside a dejected Gary Neville and Ian Wright post-match, Keane insisted the best team on the night, and during the tournament, deservedly won in the end.
"They haven't given their best the last few games, they got away with it. Eventually, they got found out," said Keane.
"The best team won tonight, the best team won the tournament. Their record over the last 12 months has been fantastic.
"Spain have a lovely mix the way they play. They have a threat on the counter attack, they have youth, they have experience.
"They beat Germany, they beat France and they’ve beaten England. For all the talent they have got, I tell you, they work their socks off. They’ve got desire, they’ve got pride.
"It’s the biggest step for players and a manager to win something, A lot of England’s young players have been fantastic in this tournament, but they lacked quality.
"Fight, desire and options off the bench probably got them to the final, but top level sport is brutal. Sometimes the opposition are just better than you.
"In sport, you need to step back and be humble. Spain were the better team. Take your medicine, regroup and go again.
