WEXFORD have been handed a major boost with the decision of one of their star attackers to return to the squad.
Manager Keith Rossiter, in his first year as manager, and who has seen his side remain unbeaten this year welcomes the return of Liam Og McGovern.
McGovern, who had taken an extended break, said "I will return to the squad for training at the end of the month".
The Wexford manager welcomes the experienced attacker back to the fold and is eager to utilise his experience for the closing rounds of the league along with the forthcoming provincial championship.
The St. Anne's (Rathangan) clubman had taken an extended break having figured in a lengthy club hurling and football championship campaign, on completion of the inter-county series of games.
The corner-forward was crucial to Wexford maintaining their Liam McCarthy Cup status last year with a 'man of the match' display against Kilkenny when the Model County needed that final round victory over their arch rivals to prevent what would have been a dramatic drop to the Joe McDonagh Cup.
McGovern chipped in with a personal tally of 2-3.
Rossiter is delighted that McGovern is on the way back.
"I have been in contact with Liam. He'll be back by the end of the month which is great for the squad. I informed the squad on Wednesday night and they are delighted with the news. He will be a huge asset to the side given his experience."
However, Rossiter has ruled a number of players out of contention over the coming weeks.
"Liam Ryan who missed recent games with a rib problem is still unavailable for Offaly. Dee O'Keeffe has had a procedure done on his back and just doing light training, while it will be two to three weeks before Matthew O'Hanlon is back in contention having just returned to training.
"Conor McDonald has undergone a back procedure and saw a specialist last week. We will just have to monitor his situation, but Simon Donohoe made a brief appearance against Kilkenny and is in contention for Saturday's Offaly game."
Rossiter has huge concern over Rory O'Connor, who has yet to feature this season.
"Rory has an Achilles tendon problem. It's quite annoying and progress is slow. We'll just have to monitor his progress over the coming weeks."
Nevertheless, Rossiter remains positive ahead of Saturday's clash with Offaly.
"One can see the impact of recent games so luckily enough we are unbeaten this year. But obviously games are going to get tougher with each round of the league but right now we are looking no further than Offaly. The pressure is there with each game but it's important we take full points at home."
