Cork Senior hurling manager Pat Ryan has named his side to face Waterford on Saturday January 4 in the Friend's of Brian Greene charity fundraiser in conjunction with Waterford Hospice in Fraher Field, Dungarvan (5pm).
This first game of the year for the Rebels sees an experienced Cork side with seven players who started in the All-Ireland SHC final defeat to Clare.
New Captain Robert Downey, goalkeeper Patrick Collins, Niall O'Leary, Ciaran Joyce, Declan Dalton, Brian Hayes and Alan Connolly are all named to start with Ger Millerick, Ethan Twomey and Luke Meade all played in Croke Park in July.
Darragh O'Sullivan, last year's U20 captain, is named alongside O'Leary and Millerick in the full back line. Michael Mullins, who captain the U20 in 2023 joins Downey and Joyce in the half back line.
Twomey and Meade partner at midfield. Dalton and Hayes will be joined by St Finbarr's attacker Ben Cunningham who won two U20 medals in 2021 and 2023 make up the half forward line. Robbie Cotter is joined by his Blackrock teammate Alan Connolly along with Pádraig Power.
The 13 substitutes will sees four All-Ireland starters outgoing captain Seán O'Donoghue, Tim O'Mahony, Darragh Fitzgibbon and new vice-captain Shane Barrett.
