Shout out also to Coláiste Choilm’s Nathan Tait, and Denjoe O’Riordan (Patrician Academy, Mallow) but Robak made four very important saves, including one at the beginning of either half in their ultimately facile win over Rochestown. The first came at a time when Roco were peppering the Sem goal in a bid to establish an early stranglehold, the second came at a time when Roco were desperate to pull back a five-point interval gap. Robak repelled all.
The Kilmeen defender played wing back at Newcestown against Hamilton HS and as well as marking Bandon danger man Humphrey Canty, Harrington displayed great work ethic in the second half to produce a stunning goal when they trailed by three.
The St Pat’s defender out of Blennerville looks a promising full back, he’s a good pair of hands and looks to read the game very well. He kept Castlehaven younger Daniel Cleary scoreless and given that the defending champions look shy on out and out defenders, he could be a valuable asset for Mounthawk’s campaign.
Chipped in well in attack, kicking an early beauty. Made a goal saving block midway through the second half and showed relentless energy for the Ennis nursery against Ballincollig’s Colaiste Choilm.
The tireless wing-back tore up and down the pitch in their draw with Patrician Academy, Mallow, scoring a point and centrally involved in another half dozen, plus two more goal chances. Did his defensive duties well and was a constant outlet for kick-outs.
The Dr Crokes defender was full-back first day out, centre-back against Roco in Mallow. Organised his defence well, particularly in the second period when Roco went 24 minutes without a score.
There’s another Casey from Austin Stacks on the way. Dylan’s younger brother is an impressive unit and he will have tougher challenges for sure as the championship progresses, but his facility to mix tidy defending with joining the attack with effect at the right moment suggests he’s got the tools.
The Kerry minor was a totemic presence for St Pat's in their win over Abbey CBS, always competitive in the aerial battle, and notching 0-8 (0-3 from play) in an excellent individual display.
Missing in Round 1, the Éire Óg midfielder was a constant ball carrier, winner and disturber as Ballincollig kept their knockout hopes alive - his early score showed that he has more talents in his arsenal.
What a gift of a left foot. Positioned higher up for this one as the Sem management reshuffled personnel. Three booming points from play from Seamus’ son. A real prospect.
The Cork minor and playmaker was in fine form kicking five second-half points, including the victory-securing 10th for his side. Son of former Cork defender John, Miskella’s movement and work rate are noteworthy.
The Newcestown forward was on home turf Wednesday against Clon and he covered every blade of grass. Despite a heavily strapped right knee, he was central to everything his school colleagues tried. The Hammies goal scored by Sean Murphy came from a free he drew in the left corner.
The rapid inside forward showed superbly for the ball throughout and was a valuable outlet for the Ennis nursery. He also showed he wasn’t shy of the dirty work as he tracked back. Chipped over a lovely mark for St. Flannan's.
A case here also for Oisín Power (CBS Mitchelstown and Ballyporeen), who scored 1-3 against IS Killorglin, but the Sem’s Josh Bowler looks tasty. In two outings, three goals. After twice hitting the net against Ballincollig, Bowler kept the green flag waving here. A tally of 3-2 two rounds in.
CBS Mitchelstown seemed determined to make a fast start against IS Killorglin and with the help of Diarmuid O’Brien, they did just that. He scored 1-4 on the day but his powerfully struck goal and two sweetly struck frees off the ground set the tone early on for his team.
