Cork GAA raised almost €100,000 from their three All-Ireland hurling final preview events at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The fundraising figure was disclosed to delegates at Tuesday’s behind-closed-doors county board meeting but was not included in the subsequent county board bulletin circulated by Cork GAA on Wednesday afternoon.

On the week of the hurling final, Cork GAA held three ‘warm-up’ events at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in an attempt to offset team costs associated with All-Ireland final involvement.

The first of the three events took place on the Wednesday evening before the final, with tables of 10 priced at €2,500 and €3,000 respectively.

The €300-a-seat preview evening included a drinks reception sponsored by Heineken, a four course meal, hurling final tickets, and a guest panel led by Jimmy Barry-Murphy. Two further events were held the following morning and afternoon.

“The three fundraising warm-up events leading up to the final were well-received. All events sold out completely, helping to offset some of the costs associated with preparing the team for the All-Ireland final weekend,” said the county board bulletin, without referencing the nearly €100,000 collected.

The bulletin also stated that “a full review of ticket allocations and distribution will take place over the coming months ahead of next year’s Championship”.
