Shane Lowry will participate in the 2025 Amgen Irish Open at The K Club next September.
The 2009 winner of the event is set to tee-up at the Kildare golf course for the event - which tickets are now on sale for - from September 4 next year.
Offaly native Lowry finished in a tie for 12th place at this year's Royal County Down tournament, eight shots behind the champion, Rasmus Hojgaard. Hojgaard pipped Rory McIlroy by a single stroke.
Lowry, who made history when he won the title on his debut appearance as an amateur in 2009, will be making his 17th consecutive appearance in the island of Ireland’s national open.
He was the first amateur winner of the prestigious event and is the most recent player to win on the DP World Tour before turning professional. Ten years later, he would become a Major Champion as he claimed the Claret Jug after winning The 148th Open at Royal Portrush.
“There’s no better feeling than playing on home soil and I’m already so excited for next year’s Amgen Irish Open,” said Lowry, who finished in a share of third at The K Club in 2023.
“I say it all the time, but the Irish fans truly are the best in the world. They are incredibly welcoming and respectful of all the golfers taking part in the tournament, not just those from Ireland.
“I’ve had some strong performances in the event over the last few years and would love nothing more than to get my hands on that trophy again.”
