Following the success of this year's event, Carton House, Fairmont will host the KPMG Women’s Irish Open once again in 2025, it has been announced.

The 2025 tournament also has an earlier date from June 30 to July 6, which has been welcomed by the Ladies European Tour and many key players as the event will be held the week before a major championship (the Amundi Evian Championship in France) and the hope is that this new date will see some big-name players looking to play in front of the renowned Irish crowds as they acclimatise to Europe.

A record-breaking 37,000 spectators gathered to witness England’s Annabel Dimmock, whose mother is from Youghal, win the event after a playoff on the O'Meara Course in September.

The tournament organisers have also announced an increased prize fund of €450,000 which makes it the third highest prize fund on the LET outside of the majors and the Aramco Team Series events.

Meanwhile, West Waterford's Gary Hurley has ground to make up after a day of low scoring at the DP World Q-School finals in Spain.

Hurley shot a level par 72 on the Lakes Course at Infinitum, leaving him well down the field, which is headed by Frenchman Felix Mory at 10-under.

Ballymena's Dermot McElroy was best of the Irish after a four-under 67 on the Hills Course. Amateur Max Kennedy, also playing at the Hills, shot a one-under 70.

Mory carded two eagles on his way to a sensational ten under par opening round of 61 on the Lakes Course.

The Frenchman fired six birdies and two eagles without a bogey to move one clear of Austrian Lukas Nemecz on a low-scoring day in Tarragona.

Benjamin Rusch from Switzerland recorded the best round of the day on the Hills Course, carding eight birdies without a blemish to share third place with Englishman Callan Barrow on eight under par.

Three-time DP World Tour winner and 2010 Ryder Cup player Edoardo Molinari sits fifth on seven under par.

There will be a cut to top 65 and ties after 72 holes, with the top 20 and ties gaining their tour cards after the sixth round.
