Generative AI has become the hottest topic in boardroom meetings, as businesses of all kinds have started to experiment with the new possibilities it provides.
But Generative AI and Large Language Models are only as good as the data they’ve been trained on, and they need the right context. For these models to be successful, they need to be trusted. And trusting AI starts with trusting data.
Cloudera is the data company for trusted enterprise AI. On average, nine out of ten of the largest global companies in various industries trust Cloudera with their data assets, resulting in 25 million terabytes of data being managed with Cloudera solutions.
We enable more than 2,000 customers to do more with their data, regardless if it resides on-premises or in the public cloud.
Customer use cases range from vaccine development, fraud prevention, reducing customer churn to better customer experience, more road safety and improved sustainability with data and analytics at the heart of technological advancements.
While the AI market is changing rapidly, data will be the constant to success of any LLM or AI models. Cloudera has been helping enterprises gain value from AI and ML for years. We will continue to innovate so that customers can benefit from trusted, secure and responsible AI-based applications.
Through its growth journey, Cloudera has identified several key locations across the globe to drive growth. The Ireland Centre of Excellence (CoE) located in Cork is one such location as a critical extension of the Cloudera corporate headquarters. The CoE is at the forefront of the latest news regarding corporate strategy, market adoption and perception, and customer engagement and sentiment.
For example, the field operations and enablement team aligns all processes, documentation, and systems. This team is also responsible for worldwide field team enablement and training. They keep all field functions aware of Cloudera’s corporate and product strategies.
The business development team is focused on developing new, and evolving existing, customer relationships. The team is closely supported by the field marketing teams worldwide who capture and nurture leads for the business development representatives to follow up on.
The CoE in Cork has doubled in growth in the last four years and is now a multi-disciplinary site, providing global support for activities such as HR, Finance, Operations, Sales, IT, Marketing, Engineering and Professional Services, to name just a few. And a growing company offers employees numerous opportunities to shape and develop their careers.
Over the course of the last three years, our diversity, learning and development teams have made very impactful efforts in putting the focus on the people in this organisation.
Cloudera launched a new upskilling learning experience platform, which provides over 5,500 digital learning experiences that Cloudera employees can avail of.
Learning paths continue to be developed and rolled out on an ongoing basis by the Learning & Organisational Effectiveness team (L&OE) and Diversity Equality & Inclusion (DE&I) teams to support employees on this journey of professional development.
In addition to this self-paced learning the company has rolled out a number of blended learning experiences for our employees — including programs such as allyship, inclusive leadership, unconscious bias training, manager foundations, hybrid team connection & cohesion.
An examplar of internal development at Cloudera is Kirstie Gaynor, who started her journey as an analyst, working on the Sales Operations team. Benefitting from the numerous career development opportunities over the years, Kirstie has most recently expanded her remit, to assume a new global role as Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and Planning.
All while the working from home programme helps all employees step away when needed and monthly Unplug Days.
These are company holidays allocated to all employees across all global offices, this benefit is in addition to your annual leave days. These days are opportunities to switch-off and take time away from work and enjoy “you time”.
And it pays off: Cloudera has been recognised as a best workplace in Ireland by the Great Place to Work Institute based on direct feedback from employees.
Year over year, this recognition is across all industry verticals or innovative, flexible, and forward-thinking practices and cultures developed by organisations within Ireland’s dynamic tech industry.
Cloudera has also been recognised as a best workplace for women. The accolade was made for the strong proportionate representation of females already in management and senior management positions; strong positive female sentiment in the employee survey specifically on responses related to career development opportunities, progression and fairness in workplace; and commitment to our external communities, building relationships across academia and various networking forums, to inspire more females to work in our industry.
But it doesn’t end there. The Tech Industry Alliance recognised Cloudera with the Multinational of the Year award and the Diversity, Inclusion & Social Impact award for our commitment to creating a fun, high performing, diverse and inclusive culture, our commitment to the work life balance & wellbeing of our employees and to our employees development.
And the numbers speak for themselves. We are seeing a very low employee turnover and the overall employee gender diversity within the Ireland COE stands at 51% female and 49% male, which is testimony to our responsibility to ensure fair representation and diversity across all of our lines of business and levels.
Specifically for Undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. students, we have implemented an internship programme. The purpose is to provide students with a robust experience tailored towards technical and professional development to pave the way for conversion to a full-time employee upon graduation.
Interns collaborate with mentors to define a project scope that they will deliver during their internship and present to leadership at the conclusion of the programme. The majority of participants return to Cloudera after graduation. So the programme not only gives interns professional experience but also helps Cloudera find motivated new hires.
As a result of the growth journey, Cloudera is looking for new employees of all levels. To find out more about Cloudera as an employer and open positions, visit our website:
