In an hours-long discussion on a publicly available audio conversation on Elon Musk's X, more than 20 Irish users discuss taking up arms, violence against immigrants and antisemitic conspiracies.

The now-deleted hours-long X space — the audio chat function to have conversations with other X, formerly Twitter, users — included at least 25 Irish accounts, many which have since been suspended and features long discussions on race, migration and politics.

Also on the call are a number of American ethnonationalists, with one woman saying the “Irish are leading the way” in abandoning electoral politics in favour of political violence.

Ethno-nationalism is "the belief, theory, or doctrine that shared ancestry is the principal element of a cohesive national identity, and that a government should protect and promote the culture, language, and religion of one group, considered the primary or prestigious people of a nation, over other cultures, languages, or religions that may share that space in a multicultural society", according to Dictionary.com

The X space conversation, which took place in June, was viewed thousands of times while it was available.

At one point, a number of users discuss an Irish-based antifascist, when one user says “within a month, we’ll see an obituary for him”.

Another user, from the south of the country, says: “There’ll be someone walking around with bits of him on the end of their shoe. He’ll get stood on. That’s what will happen him.”

Another user responds they “hope this happens”.

During one part of the discussion, a man from Northern Ireland identified as “Richie” discusses the fractured nature of far-right politics in Ireland and says he is “not sure” democratic means will “make much of a difference” but says until there is “an alternative”, democratic politics was “the pathway”.

In response, another user says “democracy is an illusion” and “the State has declared war on us”.

“I really feel like we’re in a war here,” the young man, who is described as the leader of the group, adds.

The first man replies the “overarching coalescence” needs to be around “Ireland for the Irish, white people for the white people, Western Europeans for the Western Europeans”.

“The people around here, trying to fucking destroy everything we hold sacred are fucking Jews,” he adds.

He later speaks about the “Jewish nature of control”. He says Jews have “malevolent intentions towards the white people of Western Europe and Ireland in general”.

Anti-Jewish conspiracies

Other users expand on anti-Jewish conspiracies around central banks. In a later discussion “Richie” says subscribing to the streaming service Netflix is “as good as having a Jew in your living room”.

Another user then says Jewish texts the Talmud and Torah are “Satanic”.

The man, however, bristles at the idea of the Irish far-right becoming involved with British far-right leader Tommy Robinson, who the users describe as a “paid Zionist”.

In one part of the discussion, a woman speaks about “getting them out”, referring to migrants.

During a discussion about voting, one user says voting rights should be taken from immigrants.

During this discussion, a host of the chat says “action is needed” away from electoral politics.

“It’s not going to have a happy ending if it’s all political.

“We can’t solve this solely by voting... it’s time for action.”

The same user later says immigration into Ireland is a “declaration of war”. He says “the odds are stacked against [white Irish people]”.

A woman later says every member of the Dáil should be “dragged out and brought to justice”.

She adds protesters have been “too well-behaved” and have not disrupted day-to-day life or occupied buildings or impacted motorways. The woman then repeats a debunked conspiracy that Indian people are being offered €80,000 to move to Ireland, which another user casts doubt on but another calls “an act of treason”.

When a user identified as Mick says Ireland “will not go to war”, the host asks participants to show if they believe people will take up arms and a female host says there are “quite a few” people who say that, they believe the country will.

When the host is asked how that war will come about, he tells the chat “we don’t talk about things like that explicitly” and adds “that’s a conversation for outside the public spaces”.

“But the mentality is there and we have the backbone. When we get together, it’s going to be unstoppable.

“It’s inevitable, we’re not far away.”

Another says people “are voting Nationalist” and “the deportations are coming”.

Another speaker later talks about a video recorded on the day of the local and European elections which shows a man voting using his mother’s polling card, which was widely shared on social media. He says this is “treason” and says the Government has “overthrown the election” to stay in power.

“Anybody facilitating this deserves the end of a rope and nothing less,” he says.

Late in the chat, the host warns participants not to discuss plans for taking up arms “on a public space”. The conversation closes with two of the participants planning to meet offline, before it abruptly ends.
