The Government has missed its 2023 social and affordable housing targets, newly released figures show.
In total, there were 11,939 social houses delivered across 2023, including new-builds, acquisitions and leasing.
This is below the targets contained within the Government's flagship Housing for All plan, which sought to deliver 13,130 social homes in 2023.
However, it is an increase on the total number of social homes built in 2022, where 10,263 social houses were completed.
The vast majority of social homes were delivered in the last quarter of the year, with 7,132 being either built, acquired or leased to local authorities between October and December.
On affordable housing delivery, the Government has also missed its targets for 2023.
Of a 5,500 target for the entire year, the Government delivered 4,011 houses.
However, this is broken down into both affordable purchase and cost-rental, of which 3,045 were to buy.
