Gardaí have issued a Halloween plea after €8,000 worth of illegal fireworks were seized in Dublin.
As part of an operation which targets the sale of fireworks, officers searched a building in Finglas on Monday evening.
There, they discovered 29 boxes of multi-fire fireworks, which they valued at around €8,000.
Investigations into the seizure are ongoing, but gardaí have warned that sale, possession and use of fireworks is illegal in Ireland.
A spokesperson said: "Fireworks are dangerous and can cause serious injury and/or distress to people and pets, as well as potentially causing fires in properties if they continue to burn after landing.
Gardaí are particularly appealing to parents and adults to advise children of the hazards fireworks pose.
The spokesperson added: "Anyone with any information relating to the illegal use or sale of fireworks is asked to contact their local Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
