A snow and ice warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry after unexpected flurries on Wednesday morning.
Met Éireann has put a status yellow warning in place for the two counties until 6pm this evening.
It is warning of sleet and snow showers which could lead to accumulations and disruption.
All road users are asked to take additional care when travelling while the warning is in effect.
Elsewhere, today will bring a mixture of scattered showers and sunny spells. Some of the showers may turn heavy, thundery and wintry on higher ground too.
These showers will persist overnight as temperatures drop to -1C bringing frost and ice.
It will be a clear start to Thursday before cloud builds bringing with it some isolated showers.
The showers will become more frequent in the afternoon with a strong chance of heavy and thundery downpours as well as hail.
Temperatures tomorrow night will remain between -1C to 3C.
Heading into the Easter weekend, Good Friday will continue the trend of sunny spells and showers but it will become slightly warmer.
