The mother of the boy who died following a crash in Co Clare last weekend said he will "save five lives" by donating his organs.
Dylan Coady Coleman, 10, was seriously injured when he was struck by a van in Purcell Park in Shannon on Sunday.
He died in hospital in Dublin on Wednesday, just days after his mother, Laura, gave birth to his little brother, Shane.
Dylan is the 36th person, and the sixth pedestrian, to die on Irish roads since January 1.
In a post on social media on Wednesday night, Laura announced that Dylan "will be saving five lives tonight" by donating his organs.
Laura said Dylan came home from school about a month ago saying they had been talking about organ donation.
He informed his parents that "if anything ever happens to him, he would like to donate something or anything".
"This wasn't us, all him," she said.
People have since responded by claiming Dylan is a "superhero".
Education Minister Norma Foley also extended her sympathy to Dylan’s family and the Shannon community.
In a statement, she said: “Dylan was a much-loved and treasured member of his school community and will be greatly missed by his fellow pupils, by the staff, board of management and all who knew him.
“At the school at this sad and difficult time, the well-being of the students, staff and whole school community is of paramount importance.
“NEPS (National Educational Psychological Service) psychologists are engaging with the school and will be available to provide whatever support is required.”
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page set up by close friends of the family has raised more than €45,000 in three days.
The page reads: "We the close friends of the family who knew and loved Dylan wanted [to] set up this GoFundMe where we could donate directly to them.
"Although nothing will ease the pain of their loss right now we acknowledge that we as [a] community may be able [to] ease the financial side of things."
