One man has been arrested and eight people have been hospitalised following two separate crashes in Co Clare on Sunday.
Six people - a male and female, both in their teens, as well as a woman and three men - were taken to hospital after a two-car crash, which occurred at around 6.30pm on the N67 Spanish Point road out of Miltown Malbay, about 500m from the town’s square and outside the local GAA field.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennistymon station responded to the incident along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and gardaí.

All six were taken to University Hospital Limerick, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardaí confirmed on Monday morning that a man has been arrested a man in connection with this collision, and that investigations are ongoing.
The road where the incident occurred remained closed overnight and a technical examination of the scene is underway.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Ennis, a collision involving a car and a motorcycle occurred shortly after 7pm on Sunday night. The incident happened on the main N68 Ennis to Kilrush at Kilmorane at the turn off for Ballyea.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the collision along with gardaí and a number of ambulances from Clare and Limerick.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with what is understood to be a lower limb fracture while his passenger was assessed at the scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment.
It’s understood that the occupants of the car involved were uninjured.
The scene was examined by Garda Crime Scene Investigation officers before the road was reopened to traffic.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of both collisions.
