A Garda investigation has been launched after a boy was bitten by a dog in Limerick.
The incident took place at a house in the Garryspillane area on Tuesday.
The boy, whose age is not yet known, was bitten by the animal during the morning.
He sustained injuries during the incident.
A Garda spokesperson said an investigation was "ongoing" into the incident.
The incident in Limerick took place on the same day a man was left with "serious facial injuries" after being attacked by a dog in Dublin.
Gardaí responded to the scene of an incident in a house in Crumlin at about 12.30pm.
A man suffered facial injuries while a woman suffered arm injuries.
Both individuals were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The dog was seized by the local dog warden.
It has since been put down.
