A woman, aged in her 80s, has died following a road traffic collision involving two cars in Co Clare.
The incident happened on the R473 at Kilcarroll near Kilrush, on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí and the emergency services attended the scene and the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead.
Her body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
No other injuries were reported, and the road has been closed pending a technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
