A man in his 30s, who was arrested after one of his five passengers died in a single-vehicle crash in Co Cork in the early hours of Saturday morning, has been released without charge.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Emergency services attended the scene of the fatal road traffic incident in the townland of Ballynamona, about 4kms north west of Kinsale, Co Cork, shortly after 1.30am on Saturday morning.
The road at Ballynamona has fully reopened to traffic following a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
The victim, named locally as Finbarr (Finny) Coleman, 40, from Innishannon, was described as a very pleasant and likeable man who had a fierce passion and knowledge of sport.
Local Independent Cork county councillor, Alan Coleman, who is not related to the deceased, said the sense of shock in Innishannon village is “palpable”.
The car apparently went out of control, struck a sign and then hit a tree stump.
Investigating Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the Ballynamona area between 1:15am and 1:45am are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room at Bandon Garda Station on 023 885 2200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
"Investigations are ongoing," a Garda spokesperson said.
