Two men and a woman have been arrested as part of a garda investigation targeting a criminal group suspected of having carried out a number of burglaries at commercial properties in Cork, Galway, Mayo, Kildare, and Wexford.
As part of the intelligence-led operation, gardaí from the North Western and Southern Regions searched two locations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region on Thursday.
The criminal group are suspected of being involved in the burglaries of at least 12 commercial premises, and stealing an estimated €200,000 worth of cigarettes and vapes.
During the course of the searches in Dublin on Thursday, gardaí were able to recover a large quantity of stolen cigarettes.
Two men, aged in their 50s and 40s, and a woman in her 40s were subsequently arrested. The trio are currently detained at a Garda station in the Garda North Western Region pursuant to Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006.
A Garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
