Man arrested as two killed following hit-and-run incident in Dublin

A second person has died following a hit-and-run incident involving a car and four pedestrians in Dublin on St Stephen's Day.
A man aged in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident.
At approximately 5.45pm on Thursday, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a road traffic incident involving a car and four pedestrians at Blanchardstown Road North in Dublin 15.
The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.
A woman, aged in her 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A man, aged in his 40s, was conveyed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of serious injuries. On Friday morning, gardaí confirmed that the man had died. It has been reported that the two who died were husband and wife.
On Thursday night, investigating gardaí arrested a man in connection with the incident.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin.
A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has now reopened to traffic.
Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians with camera footage and who were in the vicinity of Blanchardstown Road North, between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday, December 26 have been asked to make this available.
