Man, 30s, killed after single-vehicle crash in Offaly

A man in his 30s has died after the vehicle he was driving crashed in Offaly.

Officers attended the incident at Moorock in Ballycumber in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man was the driver and sole occupant of the the vehicle.

He is the 170th person to die on Irish roads in 2024.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed from the scene to the mortuary in the Midlands Regional hospital.

The road is currently closed as a technical examination by garda forensics.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 932 7600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

On Saturday, a woman in her 20s was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Limerick.
