A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Co Roscommon earlier this week.
The man was arrested on Friday morning on suspicion of murder and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Meath/Westmeath Division.
The woman, who has been formally identified as Mirjana Pap, was the subject of a garda missing person's appeal over the weekend.
The appeal was stood down after a body was found on land at Curraghaleen, near Athlone, on Monday afternoon.
Gardaí formally launched a murder investigation on Tuesday night.
Earlier on Tuesday, gardaí carried out a search on a house in Athlone, and seized two cars for examination.
An autopsy was also carried out on Tuesday by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Yvonne McCarthy at Galway University Hospital.
The results of this are not being released for operational reasons,
Investigations are ongoing, a Garda spokesperson said.
