Pedestrian, 60s, dies following collision involving car in Co Meath

A man has died following a collision involving a car in Meath on Friday night. 

The incident happened at Flowerhill, Navan after a car collided with a pedestrian at around 10.40pm. 

The man, aged in his 60s, was fatally injured as a result of the collision. 

His body has since been taken to the mortuary at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan where an autopsy will take place in due course. 

The male driver of the car, also in his 60s, was uninjured, a garda spokesperson said. 

The road at Flowerhill is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Gardaí are set to carry out a technical examination on Saturday morning. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to gardaí.
