Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Jo Jo Dullard almost 30 years ago have completed their search of an open ground location near the Wicklow/Kildare border.

Gardaí have updated Ms Dullard's family on the current position of the investigation, but say they will not be commenting further on the searches for "operational reasons."

Ms Dullard's disappearance was upgraded to murder back in 2020.

The investigation has progressed since then, and nearly 800 recommendations were actioned by an investigation team based at Naas Garda Station, under the direction of a senior investigating officer.

Searches resumed on November 12 at Ballyhook, Grangecon in Co Wicklow.

Technical and forensic teams assisting a number of specialised gardaí units involved including the Kildare Division Serious Crime Unit and the Serious Crime Review Team, as well as the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Ms Dullard, from Callan, Co Kilkenny, went missing on November 9, 1995, after spending an evening socialising in Dublin. She missed her last bus home to Kilkenny and instead got a 10pm bus to Naas, Co Kildare.

From there the 21-year-old hitch-hiked, getting a lift to Kilcullen and then to Moone. From a phone box in Moone she rang a friend, ending the conversation to say she had a lift. She was not seen or heard from after that.

Last month, a man, aged in his 50s, was arrested in connection with the investigation, but he was later released without charge.

Gardaí have now issued a renewed appeal for information in relation to the case.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí continue to appeal to any person who may have previously come forward, who felt they could not provide gardaí with all the information they had in relation to this matter, to contact the investigation team again.

"An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you might believe it to be, to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300 or any Garda station, or anyone who wishes to provide information confidentially should contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

"Any information will be treated with the strictest confidence."
