Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys has announced the payment dates for the cost-of-living supports introduced as part of last week’s budget.
The social protection budget of more than €1.4bn marked the largest in the history of the State. It will assist families, pensioners, carers, and people with disabilities through a mix of lump sum payments, targeted supports, and increased weekly payments.
Here is a list of when the lump-sum payments will be made:
- October cost of living double payment will be made on the week commencing October 28, benefiting 1.4 million recipients.
- Double child benefit will be paid on November 5 and December 3, helping 678,000 families and more than 1.2 million children.
- November 4 — €400 cost of living payment for those in receipt of the working family payment, benefiting 46,000 families; €300 lump-sum fuel allowance. Additionally, a €400 disability allowance, including a blind pension, will be paid out on this week
- November 11 — the living alone allowance of €200 will be made this week, to a total of 254,000 recipients and the €400 carer’s support grant will also be paid out to 145,000 carers.
- A €100 child support payment will be given on the week commencing November 25, to 340,000 children.
A double Christmas bonus payment will be made in the week commencing December 2.
Ms Humphreys said the lump-sum payments were designed to assist families and individuals across the State with the cost of living.
“The blend of lump-sum payments to support people over the winter months together with weekly rates and a range of targeted supports is designed to ease the financial pressure facing many households across the State,” Ms Humphreys added.
