A new report exploring harmful behaviours such as bullying and sexual harassment in the Irish screen industries will be launched next week.

Women in Film and Television Ireland (WFT Ireland) has announced the launch of the commissioned report, Behind the Scenes: Exploring harmful behaviours in the Irish screen industries, which will be taking place on Monday in Dublin.

Funded by the Screen Ireland Stakeholder Fund, the research highlights the experiences of professionals within the Irish screen industries and the urgency for change.

Written and researched by Dr Susan Liddy and Dr Fergal Rhatigan, the report found that bullying, harassment and sexual harassment is still overwhelmingly present in many workplaces.

Co-author of the report and Chair of WFT Ireland, Dr Susan Liddy, said: “Nearly three quarters (72%) of all the respondents who participated in our survey had either experienced or witnessed some form of inappropriate or harmful behaviour: a clear signal that while much has been achieved, there is more to do.

"Cultural change is a lengthy and evolving process, but we believe we can work together with greater urgency to achieve our collective goals for the benefit of all workers in the Irish industries."

The report will be officially launched on Monday, September 30, from 10am at the Light House Cinema, Market Square, Smithfield, Dublin 7, with a short presentation by Dr Liddy and Dr Rhatigan.
