Man, 80s, dies in crash in Donegal

A man in his 80s has died following a crash in Co Donegal.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the collision, which occurred at approximately 18.20pm at Annagh on the R238 near Clonmany when a van struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, aged in his 80s, was fatally injured in the incident.

Arrangements will now be made for an autopsy, and the local coroner has been notified.

The road where the accident took place has been closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. 

The road will remain closed overnight, and local diversions are currently in place.

Investigating gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses.

Any road users who may have camera footage and who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available.
