Two men die following collision involving motorcyles in Co Meath

Two men have died following a three-vehicle collision involving motorcycles in Meath on Sunday afternoon. 

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident which happened at Bellaney, Oldcastle at around 4.40pm. 

Two men, aged in their 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene. 

One man was rushed to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

Another man has also been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time. 

The R195 road at Bellaney, between Oldcastle and Castlepollard is currently closed for gardaí to carry out a technical examination. 

Local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R195 road at Bellaney, Oldcastle, Co. Meath, between 4pm and 5pm on Sunday 28th July 2024, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí," a garda spokesperson said. 

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kells Garda Station on 046 928 0820, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

It is the latest collision to have occurred this weekend. 

On Saturday, a teenage boy died following a collision involving a car and an e-scooter in Kilkenny. 

The collision took place shortly after 6pm along the Tullaroan road, Bonnettstown, Kilkenny between a car and the 14-year-old who was on an e-scooter.
