A man has died following a hit-and-run in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred shortly before 1am on the coast road in Baldoyle. The car involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.
The man, who was a pedestrian aged in his 40s, is the 105th person to die on Irish roads so far in 2024.
Gardai involvement in the wider incident related to the stolen car, prior to the collision, has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.
The referral does not relate to the fatal crash itself.
The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will be made for an autopsy.
The road was closed overnight to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. It is expected to reopen shortly.
Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Howth Garda Station on 01 666 4900, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
