Two people have lost their lives in separate collisions bringing to 13 the number of road fatalities so far this year.
In Mayo, a man was killed in a single-vehicle collision shortly before 6.15pm on the N17 at Lisduff, Claremorris.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred while Mayo and some neighbouring counties were under a status red wind warning.
The scene was closed overnight and will remain so until Forensic Collision Investigators have carried out an examination.
Local diversions are in place through Ballindine and Claremorris.
In Louth, emergency services were called to an incident where a van had collided with a tree at around 1.50am this morning.
A passenger, a woman aged in her 20s, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second passenger, a man also in his 20s, was treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The woman's body remains at the scene this morning and a technical examination of the scene will be carried out later today. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to either of these collisions to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, and were travelling in the areas at the time of the incidents are asked to make the footage available to Gardaí.
