RTÉ has confirmed that its Aertel teletext service will shut down next week after being in service for nearly four decades.
It first went live in 1986 on an experimental basis before it was formally launched a year later.
Aertel has been running digitally since 2019 and is set to be switched off on Thursday, October 12.
The service provided up-to-date news, TV schedules, and sports scores, and subtitles to television viewers.
Aertel also gave updates during the covid-19 pandemic.
According to RTÉ, the closure has been planned since the publication of its Strategy 2024.
It follows the broadcaster's decision made earlier in April to cease operations on its longwave radio.
The LW 252 service carried RTÉ Radio 1 to its listeners across the island of Ireland as well as Britain.
