Facebook have announced that they’re expanding their data centre in County Meath, before it is even built.
The social networking site have turned the sod on the complex outside Clonee which will see another building added to what the company previously announced.
When completed, it will be the size of eight Aviva Stadiums.
Tom Furlong is Vice-President of Infrastructure at Facebook: “We’ve built the site and designed it to house more than one building.
“We want to basically be able to grow it as our business needs change and we have already forseen that we need the second building.
“So we will start construction of the first building and the shell of the second and we will move right on and keep constructing as we go into building two.”
