News of new hotel openings cross this desk every week, so it takes something extra special to get me excited.
Cue Eriro, a new luxury mountain lodge hidden away in Ehrwald, Austria in the Tyrolean mountainscape.
Accessible only by cable car, it’s home to nine luxury suites with incredible views of the pristine scenery.
Eriro connects guests to nature through its beautiful design, cuisine, experiences and spa (think herbal treatments, thermal pools and Finnish saunas with mountain views).
Reflecting the serenity of the Alpine region, there’s a wealth of activities, from hiking and biking to yoga and crafts. This is my kind of bliss.
- Opening rates of €999 per night for an all-inclusive suite experience.

Malta’s a rewarding destination year round but autumn and winter are always lovely on this Mediterranean island as the intense summer heat has subsided.
Happily, Aer Lingus has just launched its first-ever direct flights to Malta from Dublin, meaning Malta (and Gozo) are now an easy three-hour flight away.
Operating three times per week from October 25, fares start at €69.99.
With over 7,000 years of history, and three Unesco world heritage sites, Malta is an exciting destination for history and culture buffs.
