DEDICATED Formula One fan Adam Cox replicated his idol’s signature podium act on his big day.

Adam, from Carrigaline, Co Cork, is a fan of Lando Norris and made a dramatic entrance complete with the F1 diver’s famous Champagne bottle slam before he exchanged vows with Hazel O’Regan.

The bride, from Clonakilty, Co Cork, and groom were married in The Lodge, Ballygarry Estate and Spa, Tralee, Co Kerry, by celebrant Andrea Hall, Wexford.

"It was a civil ceremony featuring sand mixing. It was very different but gorgeous," says Hazel.

The fun-filled reception took place in Ballygarry Estate and Spa, whose grounds complete with woodland were perfect for the photoshoot, led by Ted Murphy.

And rather than posing by a sleek McLaren machine, like Norris, the newlyweds were delighted with the equally camera-friendly VW Splitty at Ballygarry.

The couple wanted their big day to be “relaxed, romantic, personal, fun, quirky and most of all reflective of their personalities”, says the bride.“We just had the best day ever!

“From start to finish the day was romantic, fun, energetic, sunny and extremely well organised thanks to all at Ballygarry."

Hazel is a longtime Friends aficionado so the couple planned to have the sitcom’s theme song, The Rembrandts’ 'I’ll Be There For You', included in the ceremony.

To their delight, one half of the alt rock duo performed the number made famous by the NBC series. “To everyone's surprise, we received a personal video by Phil Solem himself singing the song to us,” says the bride.

"Our [wedding] band Ukebox rang me the morning of the wedding and said one of the members had been recording music with The Rembrandts in the US the week before and he told them that he was performing 'I'll Be There For You' at an upcoming wedding — and Phil recorded us a personal rendition of it. Our guests knew I love Friends so they were all weak for it.

All those little bits really make the day so memorable. Fun times."

Adam Fleming of West Cork Weddings was the videographer and Maura's Cottage Flowers, Tralee, created the floral décor.

Hazel’s sister Grace O’Driscoll was her bridesmaid and her four nieces, Regan O'Driscoll, Etain O'Driscoll, Tierna O'Driscoll and Ailbhe O'Driscoll, were her flowergirls. Adam’s friends Davy Herbert and Brendan Woods were his groomsmen.

The bride looked elegant in a Catherine Deane dress she sourced in BellaBleu Vintage in Cork, teamed with a cape from Charlie Brear, London. Tricia O’Sullivan was the bridal hairstylist and Maeve Carey was the makeup artist.

Mick Murphy Menswear Cork ensured the groom and his party were dapper.

The couple, who now live in Crosshaven, Co Cork, first met, online, in November 2020, and their first date took them to Charles Fort, Kinsale, during a windstorm. “You could say it was romantic. Adam bought me a fresh red rose!” says Hazel.

"The extra coastal wind played havoc with our walk!"

Just over two years later, in February 2023, Adam popped the question in the Ulaman Eco Luxury Retreat, Bali.

Hazel, a primary school teacher, and Adam, an apprentice associate engineer, chose South Africa, Kenya and Zanzibar as their honeymoon destinations.
