It was a case of love at first latte for this Kerry couple when they set eyes on one another at Costa Coffee in Tralee.
Kelsie Barry and Peter Moriarty’s paths crossed online nine years ago. “We met on the dating site Plenty of Fish,” says Kelsie.
As both live in Tralee, they decided to connect in person at the town centre branch of Costa Coffee. They immediately hit it off.
Six years later, he popped the question, in their kitchen. “Peter proposed on Christmas Day 2020 while I was on the phone to my dad,” says Kelsie.
“Peter handed me a Christmas card. At the bottom, he had written ‘turn around’, so I did — only to see Peter on one knee as he asked me to marry him.”
Kelsie, who moved from Corby, Northamptonshire in the UK, to Tralee 15 years ago, and Peter, originally from Ballylongford, were married in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on October 26 by Aine Brosnan of Spiritual Ceremonies.
Their reception took place in the same venue, where Kelsie’s dad Fred Barry and her stepmum Maggie Barry together with Peter’s mother Angela Moriarty helped the newlyweds celebrate, as did Tayla-jae Morcombe, Kelsie’s daughter and maid of honour, and Peter’s son, Josh O’Sullivan, the best man.
“It was the best day from start to finish, we wouldn’t have changed a thing,” says the bride.
Kelsie’s friends, Rebecca Mason, Lynn Ravey, and Noelle O’Shea, were her bridesmaids and Peter’s brothers, Mossy Moriarty and Mikey Moriarty, along with Kelsie’s sons Lewis Morcombe and Jaden Morcombe were the groomsmen.
Carly, McKenzie, and Madeline O’Shea were the flowergirls.
“We had the most amazing celebration with close friends and family,” adds the bride.
“We were delighted to welcome friends and family who travelled from the UK to attend our wedding.”
Kelsie chose her dream wedding gown at Finesse Bridal Boutique in Listowel, Co Kerry, and the groom and his party were dapper thanks to Tuxedo Tralee.
The bridal makeup was by Andrea Kerins with hairstyling by Claire Reidy.
Tara Donoghue of Tara Donoghue Photography was behind the lens, as was videographer Dan Devane, with Fenit providing a picture-perfect, ocean backdrop.
Flower Creations by Nicola helped realise the bride’s rustic autumnal theme and the wedding cake was by Cake Love & Frosting Co.
Magician Jamie Skelton entertained the guests, while the band, Comic Book Heroes kept the dancefloor full until the small hours.
Kelsie, who is assistant manager at Circle K, Fenit Road, Tralee, and Peter, who works for KWD, enjoyed a minimoon in Tenerife and will honeymoon this year.
The couple live in Tralee.
