Tots to Teens: Fun plates and utensils for fussy eaters

Fussy Plates, a company founded by Dublin-based nutritionist Samantha Forrest, has added new food products to its range for picky eaters.

Fussy Plates, a company founded by Dublin-based nutritionist Samantha Forrest, has added new food products to its range for picky eaters.

Forrest designed her first products - a set of plates featuring funny faces - to encourage her three children to experiment with different foods. She has since expanded her range to include presses, pops, and crinkle cutters. These stainless-steel implements allow children to get involved in food preparation by making fun shapes out of fruits and vegetables.

Plates cost €15. Presses and pops cost €10 for six, and crinkle cutters are €9.

Adam book adventures

The Inspired by Love gift bundle from the award-winning Adam’s Cloud range of books is a heartwarming present for any child. Featuring a cuddly teddy bear wearing PJs and all nine of the Adam’s Cloud books, there’s plenty to keep a child entertained at bedtime.

The Adam’s Cloud books are written by Benji Bennett, the father of Harry, Robbie, and Molly and of Adam, who died in 2007 at the age of four. Bedtime stories are an essential part of family life for the Bennetts, and after the loss of Adam, Benji was inspired to write some stories in his memory.

In each book, Adam embarks on a different adventure. In one, he explores space. In another, he encounters a pirate. Common themes include the importance of spending time with family and expressing and sharing love.

This gift is on offer for €80 from www.adamscloud.com. Single book titles are also available for purchase. A percentage of all book sales are donated to children’s charities in Ireland. Adam’s Cloud has raised over €80,000 for worthy causes to date.

Museum of ‘terror’

Prepare to be haunted in Waterford this Halloween, where the Irish Wake Museum hosts two ‘spooktacular’ events.

One is a workshop for three- to 12-year-olds. It will take place from Saturday, October 26, to Thursday, October 31. The workshop will teach children about the historic Irish traditions surrounding the festival of Samhain and show them how to make their own fiddle face masks to fend off the spirits that cross over from the world of the dead at this time of year.

The other event is a terrifying museum tour for older teenagers and adults. It will bring them up close to the historic horrors of life in Waterford city. From plague victims to body snatchers, it promises to be suitably ghoulish.

The workshops cost €12.50, and the tours €11.
