New to the market with West Waterford/East Cork auctioneer Brian Gleeson is a 60-acre farm in the townland of Reenaclougheen, near Old Parish, County Waterford.
“It’s between Ardmore and Old Parish,” says Brian. “The fascinating thing about this holding is that is in three lots but is owned by two different people.”
In this case, two neighbouring farmers have come together to offer their adjoining lands at once on the market, giving potential buyers more opportunity in a rare situation.
“It’s most unusual,” says Brian. “There’s great relations between them and they could both see the benefit in offering the holding in individual lots but also as an entire larger holding.
"Therefore, they joined forces with myself as the agent to give people the opportunity to acquire the land in unison. It’s a very pragmatic approach, rather than putting up two adjoining farms at different times.”
It's an approach that will certainly generate some excitement in the market, with such a large quantity of land making rare appearances in the West Waterford agricultural land market.
Lots 1 and 3 are owned by one farmer, while Lot 2 is owned by another farmer. The overall price guide is €675,000, with Lot 1 guiding €150,000, Lot 2 guiding €300,000 and Lot 3 guiding €225,000.
So far, Brian says that most of the interest in this farm is in the entire — which is in keeping with general land-purchasing trends of the last four to five years. Furthermore, the entire holding is under active offer.
