Fermoy-based auctioneers Dick Barry & Son have two holdings that are new to the market — both of them in the East Cork/West Waterford area and each one comprising 27 acres of quality land. With different locations, they are listed at varying price levels.
The first is located in a very scenic and sought-after position near the historic seaside town of Youghal, with part of the property overlooking the expanse of Youghal Bay. It is in the townland of Newtown, about 5km from Youghal.
“As you go down into Youghal on the Tallow road, Lombard’s Bar is on the left-hand side and the holding is on the right,” says selling agent Michael Barry. “It’s a lovely bit of land in two fields and you can see the sea from the lower part of it.”
The property comes with a price tag of €15,000/acre.
The second holding is located near the West Waterford town of Tallow — adjoining the main N72 on the Co Cork side, in the townland of Glanatore Upper.
“It’s all in one field,” says Mr Barry. “It’s another good quality piece of land. It’s growing spring barley at the moment and about 5km from Tallow.
“We’re guiding a little bit less on this property as its location wouldn’t be as good as the one at Newtown — between €12,000 and €14,000/acre.”
Both properties have good-quality acres and are both easily accessible. Their final value will be defined, however, by the market over the coming weeks and months.
