A new burger bar and grill opening in Cork city this weekend.
The Hungry Hippo Burger Bar & Grill is an exciting addition to the city's culinary offering, opening amid a string of recent closures in the hospitality sector here.
Located just off Washington Street, next to the Courthouse, The Hungry Hippo will serve burgers, wings, and vegan dishes.
The new restaurant is also set to create new job opportunities in the hospitality sector in Cork and is currently hiring food, beverage and kitchen staff.
Head chef of The Hungry Hippo Burger Bar & Grill, Maciej Sitarek, said he “can’t wait” for customers to taste what the restaurant has in store when doors open to customers on Friday evening.
Mr Sitarek, who has 20 years of experience working in Cork city and county, will lead The Hungry Hippo’s kitchen.
We’re excited to welcome everyone to The Hungry Hippo this holiday season.
"I always ensure there’s a wide array of delicious vegan options on the menu because I don’t believe anyone should be limited in choice due to their dietary preferences. From our vegan burgers to creative plant-based specials, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Speaking to The Examiner about the decision to open the restaurant at a time of uncertainty for many within the industry, marketing manager Denis Finbarr Cronin said he believes the new restaurant “has the perfect recipe for success”.
From the success of the food offerings at our other venues — The Alibi, BarBarossa, and An Bróg — we decided to open a dedicated food venue to show off all the best we have to offer.
Those interested in applying for food, beverage or kitchen staff roles are encouraged to apply by sending their CVs to team@hippocork.com
