The Bluetti AC70 is a compact, battery-powered power station with a lightweight design, but don’t let its small size fool you. It delivers an impressive 1,000W of continuous power and up to 2,000W in powerlifting mode, making it capable of running everything from essential electronics to small appliances. Whether you're living off the grid, commuting, or simply need a reliable backup for home use, the Bluetti AC70 offers remarkable versatility and practical functionality for a range of situations.
The AC70 is compact enough to carry with one hand and won’t take up much space, making it an excellent option for van lifers, campers, or even home workers seeking flexible power solutions. The durable design, with its sturdy exterior, can withstand the rigours of daily use, whether in a home office or during off-grid adventures. Bluetti has done a great job of keeping the AC70 lightweight without compromising on build quality, ensuring it’s both portable and robust for various environments.
Despite its compact form factor, the Bluetti AC70 packs serious power. With a 1000W continuous output and 2,000W peak powerlifting mode, it can handle a variety of appliances and electronics. I tested it with a few different devices, including my laptop, 3D printer and anything else I could plug into. It was ideal for charging all my batteries for power tools, cameras, and electric bikes while in the camper, and I used a Bluetti 200W solar panel to recharge the AC70. Of course, using a solar panel in the winter months isn’t as practical as during the summer, but thanks to the AC70’s built-in charger, you can simply plug it in the wall outlet and have it recharged in two hours or 90 minutes if you enable turbo charging mode.
It also has a car charging adapter to charge the AC70, which is slower. What’s handy is that you can charge and use the power station simultaneously.
Whether you're using it to charge your office essentials like phones, cameras, and laptops or for more demanding devices such as power tools, the AC70 is surprisingly capable for its size.
The 768Wh battery capacity is sufficient to keep multiple smaller devices running for an extended period. In my testing, it handled a full day of work, powering my MacBook Pro M3, a phone in hotspot mode, and a portable monitor for eight hours. At the end of the day, there was 60% left in the power station.
I also ran a 90-minute 3D print on my Bambu Labs A1, which drained the AC70 from 100% to 69%. While this was an enjoyable test, if you live in an area prone to frequent blackouts, you can keep the AC70 plugged into the mains and connect your 3D printer or computer, using the power station as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). This ensures a seamless power backup in case of outages.
1,000W is enough power to run most appliances, but don’t expect it to run your hair dryer, 3,000W kettle or anything rated for more than 1,000W of continuous power.
One of the AC70’s key selling points is its ultra-stable LiFePO4 battery chemistry, which boasts over 3,000 life cycles or 10 years of typical use. This ensures longevity and reliability, making it a sound investment for long-term use. Whether relying on it during power outages or using it daily for work, you won’t have to worry about the battery degrading anytime soon.
The battery technology also adds to the AC70's safety and durability. LiFePO4 batteries are known for being more stable and less prone to overheating or catching fire than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Bluetti is confident in its products, and the AC70 has a five-year warranty.
Around the front are two AC outlets (220V), a 12V cigarette lighter port, ideal for charging 12V DC appliances up to 120W, two USB-A ports (12W each), and two USB-C ports that provide up to 100W, making them great for charging more power-hungry devices like laptops.
During my testing, I found the USB-C ports particularly useful for charging my laptop. The 12V port came in handy when I was travelling, allowing me to charge the station directly from my car. The ability to quickly recharge via the AC outlet or the 200W solar panels made it incredibly flexible.
The front also sports a colour display that shows the battery level, other information about how many watts the station is using, and an estimate of how much time you have left based on your current usage.
The Bluetti app is a fantastic addition to the AC70’s feature set. Available for Android and iOS, it allows you to monitor and control the power station remotely via Bluetooth. Through the app, you can check the battery level, monitor output, and even turn the AC and DC outputs on or off with a tap. This smart control capability adds convenience, especially when you’re busy and want to check your power station without being physically near it.
The Bluetti AC70 is an impressive, compact power station that delivers exceptional performance for its size. It’s lightweight and easy to transport and offers a versatile array of charging options. Whether you’re powering office devices, going off-grid, or living the van life, the AC70 provides a reliable, efficient solution.
