Construction consultancy firm Mitchell McDermott has opened new offices in Limerick to meet the demand for services across the Mid-West and Southern regions.

The company said it had been involved in more than €700m worth of projects in the region over the past six months, including the Events Centre, the Counting House, the student apartment Bottle Works, ESB Wilton and the Moxy Hotel in Cork.

It is also working on the Cleeves Riverside Quarter as well as major residential developments on the Carey’s and Dock roads in Limerick and delivered phase 1 of Bonham Dock in Galway.

Mitchell McDermott was established in 2015 by Mayo men Paul Mitchell and Anthony McDermott. The firm employs 70 construction professionals, providing project management, cost management, funder advisory services and specialist services across all sectors of the industry.

The company is headquartered in Dublin and in addition to the Limerick office has project offices in the UK, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia.

Eoin McEnery, who heads up the new Limerick office, said the growing pipeline of work was hugely positive and it would be looking to expand the business in the near future.

We always had a strong portfolio of clients across the Mid-West and South but having a Munster base will enable us to better serve new and existing projects while availing of opportunities to grow the business across various sectors, including residential, pharma, life sciences and commercial.

"We started with four staff members, but we recently took on four more employees. We will be looking to hire more in the coming months as we expand our presence.”

Paul Mitchell said: "We are currently advising on almost 2,400 residential units across the region — predominantly apartments across public and private sector clients, over 500 hotel rooms and over 270 purpose-built student beds as well as 40,000sq m of commercial, mixed-use and event space.

"We are already seeing growing demand for our services here, especially with regard to cost management, project management, bank monitoring, financial modelling and due diligence. That bodes very well for the future.”
