The Limerick software firm AMCS has continued its expansion with the acquisition of a US transportation company for an undisclosed amount.
Jimmy Martin’s firm, AMCS, has acquired the Austin, Texas-based Qv21 Technologies, a provider of fleet-management software for short-haul bulk-commodity transportation.
This acquisition is the latest in a series of deals by AMCS, which specialises in fleet-management solutions for the environmental, utilities, waste, recycling, and resource industries.
The deal will enable companies in the long-haul transportation of bulk products to direct towards reuse or recycling facilities materials that were previously considered waste and which were destined for landfill sites.
The deal is a crucial advancement for AMCS, Mr Martin said:
Founded in 2002, AMCS has 4,000 customers across 80 countries, including some of the largest waste-management and recycling companies globally, as well as blue-chip manufacturing customers.
Last month, Swiss private-equity firm EQT acquired a majority stake in AMCS for an undisclosed amount.
Robert Maclean, partner in the EQT private-equity advisory team, said: “We have followed the progress of AMCS closely for many years and have been hugely impressed by what it has achieved.
“We strongly believe that AMCS has a fantastic opportunity to further support the circular economy and drive a greater share of recycling within the waste industry.
"We are very pleased to be partnering with AMCS’s co-founder and CEO, Jimmy Martin, as well as his entire team, to deliver on an exciting shared vision for growth.”
Last October, AMCS acquired Canadian sustainability platform FigBytes for an undisclosed amount, marking the company’s second strategic acquisition in the ESG space, following the acquisition of German firm Quentic in June 2022.
