The actions of Sorensen in Glanmire during the flooding helped prevent major flooding in the town. The engineering company are currently working on the Glashaboy Flood Relief Scheme in the town and were able to divert flood water away from Hazelwood Shopping Centre. The R639 road remains closed as they attempt to clear a blocked culvert.
