A man has been hospitalised following a crash on the N22 in Cork on Monday morning. 

The collision happened on the N22 eastbound at Farran Cross at approximately 9am. 

Gardaí and emergency services personnel attended the scene of the incident, and it is understood that man's injuries are non life-threatening. 

A garda spokesperson said investigations into the incident are ongoing. 

It followed a separate crash on the N22 Ballincollig bypass, westbound near the Ovens exit, shortly after 8.30am. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, traffic was at a near standstill in the vicinity of Cork’s Fota Island following a single-vehicle crash on Monday morning.

The incident happened on the R624 Cork to Fota Road shortly before 10.30am. Emergency services personnel and members of An Garda Síochána attended the scene, but a garda spokesperson confirmed to the Irish Examiner that no injuries have been reported.

However, the road remains closed to traffic and a timeline for when it may be reopened has not yet been confirmed.
